Safety & Trust
Why Trust & Safety Was the First Thing I Built
22 May 2026
Most founders build the product first and bolt safety on later.
I did it the other way around.
Before the wireframes.
Before the code.
Before the name.
I knew one thing: if LoveHuddle was going to exist, it had to be safe, not as a feature, but as a foundation.
That decision came from somewhere personal.
A friend of mine spent weeks talking to someone on a dating app. He was genuinely invested. Genuinely hopeful. Then it unravelled. The person wasn’t who they said they were. They weren’t even in the UK. And then came the ask, money, so they could “travel to him.
A romance scam.
Calculated. Cruel.
And devastatingly common.
He lost more than money.
He lost time, trust, and a piece of his confidence in people.
That stayed with me.
So when LoveHuddle started forming in my mind, I kept coming back to that moment.
What if he’d been protected from the start?
What if the platform had caught it before he ever got hurt?
That became the obsession.
Not just building a better dating app, building one that actually gives a damn about the people using it.
A platform that doesn’t wait for something to go wrong.
A platform that protects you before you even meet someone.
Proactively safe. Not reactive.
As safe as AI can make it.
Safety first, everything else second.
That’s why the Shield Protocol exists.
That’s why verification is strict.
That’s why trust and safety wasn’t an afterthought at LoveHuddle.
It was the beginning.
